Case Study - Duke of Devonshire Estate at Bolton Abbey
The Problem
Aging guttering that wasn't responding well to annual maintenance
The Monarch Solution
Replacement Guttering and Drainage that was faithfully copied from the originals
The Duke of Devonshire's Estate had a problem with one of their barns. Since the original guttering and downpipes had been installed they had gradually deteriorated and corroded over many decades.
The problem they faced was replacing everything with a solution that performed to modern standards yet maintained the period authenticity. Monarch leapt to the challenge and provided a complete stone roof to replace the leaky one, all new wood gutters, fully installed with rise and fall brackets as they were historically made.
Down pipes, cast collars and cast shoes were specially made, closely matching historical construction but with modern protective surface treatment. Wooden spacers were used behind the collars for authenticity and everything was finished in the Duke of Devonshire Estate approved colours.
